Typo Luxe Planner - Review & RANT!

Today's post will be slightly different to my previous posts. Not often do I rant about a particular product, though on this occasion I feel it is necessary.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased the 'Luxe Planner' from Typo. A slight impulse buy (as I already own a personal sized Filofax which I adore) though I was instantly drawn-in by its mystical sparkles and perfect size.

I handed over my last $20 bill to the till lady - and walked out of the store chuffed by my 'bargain purchase.'
Later... to be bitterly dissapointed.

At first glance, the planner appears sturdy and well-made. The inserts and paper are gorgeous, and as a bonus, you receive a free metal pen! Though this is where the first problem pops up.

The pen is both slim and sophisticated, though a little 'to-slim' for the pen loop. As soon as you pick up the planner, the pen slips right out. Such a shame.
But I thought to myself,
"Oh well, I can always just use another pen - no biggie!"

It seems the 'pen issue' was not the only (important) issue I was going to face.

The pink arrow (as shown in the photo above) points to the main issue I have with this planner.
Take a look at that ring! One of the other three rings (not shown in this photo) also has alignment issues.

It may not seem like a huge problem, but when you turn the pages of the planner, the paper constantly gets caught and rips.

Upon my research, it seems I'm not the only one who's had the same issues with the Typo 'Luxe planner.'

cafeetpapier.com
Like Kait (cafeetpapier.com), I too adore the Luxe planner. Let me clarify that... I adore the 'look' of the Typo Luxe planner, not so much its functionality. I wish I had of come across Kait's blog post prior to purchasing my planner, that way I may have thought twice about handing over my last $20 bill. Thank goodness I kept my receipt.

This post is simply to warn you to ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ITEM before you purchase it!

The Elf on the Shelf - A Christmas Tradition

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. There are endless ways to celebrate with friends and family.
The Elf on the Shelf is a fantastic way to celebrate the silly season with your children, grandchildren, brothers or sisters. The Elf on the Shelf has officially landed Down Under. Have you heard of this cheeky little character? If you haven’t then I think you’re going to love him/her.

For those who aren’t familiar, The Elf on the Shelf is a little elf that comes to your home in December and watches your children every day to make sure they are behaving well. Your elf can be a sweetie or it can be naughty too, it is all up to you.

Arriving in a beautifully large box the elf is tucked in neatly and is accompanied by a delightful picture book. The picture book is the key. In wonderful rhyme and rhythm your new little elf introduces himself and the magic of Christmas.

The idea is quite simple. First, an elf cannot be touched. Christmas magic is very fragile and, if an elf is touched, it may lose that magic and be unable to fly back to the North Pole. Second, an elf cannot speak or move while anyone in the house is awake. An elf's job is to watch and listen. Elves typically appear in their families’ homes at the beginning of the holiday season. On Christmas Eve, the elves return to the North Pole with Santa Claus... until next year.

The elf belongs to your household forever. You officially name him, register him online to receive a letter from Santa, and then bring him out each year. You can choose a boy elf, girl elf, dark skin, light skin elf.

Statement from 'The Elf on the Shelf'

"The Elf on the Shelf is a special scout elf sent from the North Pole to help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists. When a family adopts an elf and gives it a name, the elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day's adventures. Each morning, the elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their elf each morning".

Ten clever places to put The Elf on the Shelf

  1. Hanging from the ceiling fan
  2. In the driver's seat of the car
  3. In my purse
  4. In the mailbox
  5. In the shower
  6. Roasting marshmallows
  7. Stuck in a candy bag
  8. Having a midnight snack
  9. Sledding down the banister
  10. In bed

Upon searching the web, I've come across a few hilarious photo's that people have taken of there elves in action. Enjoy!

Typo Haul - Planner's and More

I recently stopped in at Typo. I happened to stumble upon a few gorgeous items. My purchases included a precious ringed planner, a retro/rustic style alarm clock and three adorable food themed Christmas decorations.

Firstly, the personal size 'Galaxy Glitter' planner will be perfect for the new year. I love the glittery finish and slimline design. It's sightly lower quality than my personal size Metropol Filofax, but for $19.95 AUD, I couldn't possibly resist! Due to its slimmer design, durable design , it will make a perfect university planner. Perfect for squeezing into my bag.

The retro/rustic alarm clock was an essential purchase. My previous alarm clock fell of my bedside table and broke *sad face. I purchased it for a mere $19.95.

Lastly, I will be sending the three Christmas decorations to The Saccone Joly's (Irish YouTube vloggers) - Click here to go to there channel. I have been watching there YouTube channel for a few months now. I have to say I'm addicted!
Typo had a special deal on all Christmas decorations, three for $10. Bargain!

That's all for today. Stay tuned for a more extensive review and comparison on the Typo planner.

FURLESS Purple Power Brushes - Review

Hello :)

Today I'll be talking about the Furless Purple Power Professional Travel Makeup Brush Set.

Furless is a cruelty free company, selling a range of makeup and brushes made of synthetic bristles as opposed to animal hair. As I suffer from sensitive skin, discovering an Australian makeup (brush) company that is completely fur-free, was such a lucky find.

Furless Cosmetics is an Australian makeup company that specializes in cruelty-free makeup brushes. Love purple? Well this cute and funky makeup brush set/kit is just the one for you. Its purple brush case doubles as a makeup bag, and zips up into a travel size brush set, perfect for throwing in your bag.

If you're after super soft pure luxury brushes then look no further. The brushes are so soft and smooth. All Furless brushes are cruelty free, vegan friendly and contain no animal fur. Because they contain no animal fur this means they will last longer and will feel softer.

About the company/brand:

Purple Power Makeup Brush Set:

This purple Power makeup brush set has gorgeous deep purple handles and vivid purple tips. Use this set to create any look on the go - throw in your bag for holidays and travel.

These brushes are very soft and do not shed. The gorgeous purple colour does not run after washing either. I've thoroughly enjoyed trying out these brushes, and I love the convenience of them all being packed nicely in such a classy looking case.

This makeup brush kit consists of the following professional makeup brushes:

Firstly, the lip brush is fantastic due to its removable protective casing. Perfect for popping in your handbag.
Use the angled eyeliner brush to get a perfectly precise line. By using either eyeshadow or liquid eyeliner.
The flat lid brush is ideal for applying an eyeshadow base to your eyelids. It could also be used as a concealer brush.
The fluffy blending brush is perfect for working on the crease as it blends out colours really well.
Use the angled crease brush for a perfect blended crease look.
The basic foundation brush helps apply the product very evenly without streaking.
The powder brush is a very versatile, perfect for pressed powders, mineral translucent setting powders and even bronzer. Since it's so large it evenly distributes all of the product very well.
Lastly, the angled blush brush is not only perfect for applying blush but it's also great for contouring and highlighting. As it's angled bristles help to give a more precise application.
The kind people at Furless also sent me two gorgeous nail polishes.
The colours I received were  'Chic' - metallic charcoal shade, and 'Polished' - metallic terracotta shade.
(See photo's below - click to enlarge).

This set retails for $49.95. If you don't like purple, you're in luck! As the set also comes in hot pink.

Christmas Decorations on a Budget

Hey readers

With all of the sparkly lights, glittery decorations and cheerful carols, the lead up to the 25th of December is such an exciting time of the year. How are you liking my festive Michael Bublé music? To mute, press the pause button at the bottom left of the page.

The downside to Christmas is the amount of $ that you spend. Even shopaholics like myself feel the pinch. That's why spotting a bargain here and there makes this time of year just that little more special.

Last week I came across a few affordable items that would be ideal for any holiday home.
The best part was, all items were under $20 AUD each *happy face*.

All of the items were purchased at Western Australian discount store, Red Dot.

Red Dot first opened its doors in Western Australia in 1992, and with your support has grown substantially. Over the next few years we will grow to over 50 stores across the state, employing over 500 West Australians.

The cute candy themed items shown in the photo's each come in different colours. If I remember correctly, the colours available are pink, green and blue - I have the pink range.

I didn't buy the entire set. There is also a miniature 'candy cottage' and a large 'candy cottage' available. I own the medium size.

Dimensions:

Candy cottage = 48cm x 20cm
Candy Christmas tree = 40cm x 10cm
Candy snow man = 22cm x 12cm

Prices:

Candy cottage = $19.99 AUD
Candy Christmas tree = $9.99 AUD
Candy snow man = $4.99 AUD

Is it just me or do these look way more expensive than they actually are?
These particular decorations will be available up until Christmas at selected Red Dot Stores across Western Australia.

For those who live outside of WA, similar Christmas decorations are available from the following online stores - shipping internationally:

- 586toni on Ebay
- moons-mom on Ebay

Thanks for stopping by!
Stay tuned for more Christmas inspired posts.

What's in my Filofax (Day Planner)

Hey readers

Random fact about me: I'm obsessed with my planner. I became obsessed using my Filofax after experiencing how efficient, creative, & customizable they are.

I have the Metropol in Personal size. This size suits me perfectly as I use it as a day planner/ life helper. No matter the size of the handbag I choose to wear for the day, this personal size fits perfectly.

I first bought my Filofax for $70 AUD from Myer a couple of years ago. At first, I neglected it quite a bit. Though over the past few months I have really enjoyed becoming more organised with the help of my little red friend.

In the photo above, you can see the Metropol has handy pockets that is great for holding personal cards and business cards, there is also room to squeeze in some cute post-it notes and clips. I purchased the post-it notes and sticky flags at my local Officeworks for around $5 (combo pack).

By adding colourful tabs to the top and side of my Filofax organiser, makes it easy to remeber what each tab stands for. But best of all, it makes it more appealing to look at. The 'planner' divider was from another planner I purchased from Target. They suit my planer perfectly.

I'm pretty impressed about how much stuff you can squeeze into the Metropol planner. As you can probably tell, my Filofax it becoming pretty stuffed. What can I say, I'm a busy lady!

(UPCOMING MONTH - YET TO BE FILLED)
I've started decorating each week with different themes. This is one of my favourites.

(UPCOMING MONTH - YET TO BE FILLED)
I'm pretty chuffed about this one as well.

Lastly, what do you think of my little seal charm? Isn't she adorable! I purchased her many years ago for my very first mobile phone.

I hope you've enjoyed having a sneak peek inside my Filofax.
