My Vision Board |
Hey readers,
Welcome to DIY Friday! A day dedicated to fulfilling your creative side.
Today I will be sharing with you the art behind the 'vision board.'
A vision board (also called a Treasure Map or a Visual Explorer or Creativity Collage) is typically a poster board on which you paste or collage images that you’ve torn out from various magazines. It’s simple.
The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.
The Five Steps of Creating a Vision Board:
Step 1: Go through your magazines and tear the images from them. No gluing yet! Just let yourself have lots of fun looking through magazines and pulling out pictures or words or headlines that strike your fancy. Have fun with it. Make a big pile of images and phrases and words.
Step 2: Go through the images and begin to lay your favorites on the board. This step is where your intuition comes in. As you lay the pictures on the board, you’ll get a sense how the board should be laid out.
Step 3: Glue or pin everything onto the board. Add writing if you want.
Step 4: (Optional) Leave space in the very center of the vision board for a large inspiring quote or image.
Step 5: Hang your vision board in a place where you will see it often.
I purchased my board for $80, clear push-pins for $10 (pack of 50) and mini wooden pegs for $10 (pack of 25) from a store in Australia called
'Kikki K'.
Any special notes, quotes or sayings I receive. Any dream or goal I wish to achieve, goes straight onto my vision board. Which hangs on my wall in my room. So I can spot it every time I get in and out of bed.
The trick with creating a vision board is to make it personal. Personalise it to your room style. Or, to your 'personal style'. Most importantly...have fun!
What do you think of this idea? How do you think it would look in your room? Let me know!
Stay pretty xx
