The Golden Rules Of Foundation

SOURCE
Hey girlies!

With so many 'new and improved' foundation formulas flooding the beauty counters, no wonder the woman of the world are left feeling a little complexion perplexed. Which one do you choose? Here's your complete guide to the best bases money can buy!

'Choosing the right foundation and applying it correctly is crucial starting point for your makeup routine.'

Foundation primers
Best for: Everyone. As nobody has perfectly even skin texture.
Primer creates a consistant complexion so your foundation applies seamlessly.
How to apply: Smooth over freshly cleansed skin.
Unless you have extremely dry skin, skip moisturiser for this step.
Try:

  • Benefit 'Stay Don't Stray Stay Put' primer - $45 (AUS)

Tinted moisuriser/BB cream
Best for: Normal to dry skin.
Tinted moisturisers won't mask your imperfections, so these formulas are best avoided if you have oily or troublesome skin.
How to apply: Simply warm between your fingertips and pat into skin as you would moisturiser.
Blend well along the jaw and hairline.
Try:

  • Garnier 'Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream' - $13.95 (AUS)                     VOTED AUSTRALIA'S #1 BB CREAM

Mineral foundation
Best for: All skin types. Particularly troubled complexions. According to my research, the minerals in the formula, such as zinc oxide, are particularly healing and nurturing to the skin.
How to apply: As the experts say, 'swirl, tap and buff'. It's as simple as that!
Today, there are also plenty of liquid mineral formulas to choose from, which can be blended easily and beautifully, just as you would a regular foundation.
Try:

  • Rimmel London 'Lasting Finish Minerals Loose Powder Foundation'. - $19.95 (AUS)

Mousse make-up
Best for: Normal to oily complexions. These formulas dry to a satiny, powdery finish that's perfect for combination skin.
How to apply: Simply pat into the skin using the pads of your fingers, blending well.
Start along your 'T-zone and work outwards. (Click here to view a diagram of the 'T-zone')
Try:
  • Maybelline New York 'Dream Matte Mousse' - $21.45 (AUS)

Liquid foundation
Best for: All skin types, especially women who need their make-up to last the whole day.
Be careful when shopping for liquid foundations. If you have oily skin, stick to 'oil-free' formulas.
Also available in 'hypo-allergenic. Great for sensitive skin - like mine :)
How to apply: Using either a foundation brush, sponge or your fingers, gently swipe product over your face.
Finish the look with a translucent powder for a flawless finish.
Try:
  • Almay 'Clear Complexion' makeup - $24.95 (AUS)
