Filofax Personal Domino in Deep Pink - REVIEW

Last week I came home from university and spotted a suprise parcel in my letterbox. Lo and behold, it was a gorgeous new planner. Kindly sent by the folks at FilofaxShop Australia. Therefore, today I will be reviewing the newest member of my Filofax family. The Filofax Domino - 'Personal Size' in 'Deep Pink.'

In a good quality/functional planner, I’m looking for something that is:
  • easy
  • flexible
  • pretty
  • gives a good overview 

So let’s test how the Filofax system works out.
I can't deny the organiser is still weighty to carry around but knowing that I have all the notes I need is great.

The elastic closure works well and feels secure. The external colour is absolutely gorgeous and the inside is a beautiful grey suede. I have nothing but good things to say so far.
The cover isn’t leather but it’s very lovely and doesn’t look cheap. I’m a little worried about the off white elastic belly band becoming dirty and looking very used over time. I’ll let you know how that works out.




The inside is beautifully embossed with the Filofax logo and the model name and size. It’s a suede-like fabric and very nice to the touch. By the way, I love how the pink pleather is peeking through the credit card slits on the left side. You will also notice the little notches for the elastic belly band on each side. Lovely details, even on this budget version.

Overall I really adore this planner. The quality is just beautiful and I like that you can change the diary pages every year and essentially only need one planner.

Typo Luxe Planner - Review & RANT!

Today's post will be slightly different to my previous posts. Not often do I rant about a particular product, though on this occasion I feel it is necessary. 

A couple of weeks ago I purchased the 'Luxe Planner' from Typo. A slight impulse buy (as I already own a personal sized Filofax which I adore) though I was instantly drawn-in by its mystical sparkles and perfect size. 

I handed over my last $20 bill to the till lady - and walked out of the store chuffed by my 'bargain purchase.' 
Later... to be bitterly dissapointed.


At first glance, the planner appears sturdy and well-made. The inserts and paper are gorgeous, and as a bonus, you receive a free metal pen! Though this is where the first problem pops up.


The pen is both slim and sophisticated, though a little 'to-slim' for the pen loop. As soon as you pick up the planner, the pen slips right out. Such a shame. 
But I thought to myself,
"Oh well, I can always just use another pen - no biggie!" 

It seems the 'pen issue' was not the only (important) issue I was going to face.


The pink arrow (as shown in the photo above) points to the main issue I have with this planner. 
Take a look at that ring! One of the other three rings (not shown in this photo) also has alignment issues.

It may not seem like a huge problem, but when you turn the pages of the planner, the paper constantly gets caught and rips. 

Upon my research, it seems I'm not the only one who's had the same issues with the Typo 'Luxe planner.'

Like Kait (cafeetpapier.com), I too adore the Luxe planner. Let me clarify that... I adore the 'look' of the Typo Luxe planner, not so much its functionality. I wish I had of come across Kait's blog post prior to purchasing my planner, that way I may have thought twice about handing over my last $20 bill. Thank goodness I kept my receipt.

This post is simply to warn you to ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ITEM before you purchase it!

Rimmel Apocalips are said to be a hybrid of regular lipsticks and lip glosses. This means that they have the pigmentation and lasting power of a lipstick whilst having a sheen of a lip gloss - except no sticky residue!

First of all, I love the packaging of this product. Sleek and stylish are the first describing words that come to mind. The best thing that I like about the Apocalips lip lacquers is how the base is clear. This makes it extremely easy to differentiate each shade. Without looking at the name of each product.

As for the applicator, it's a doe-foot with a difference. It has an inbuilt "micro-reservoir" (hole) and is quite flexible. Which makes it a lot easier to be ultra precise upon application. Particularly along the cupids bow.

Depending on how thickly you apply each shade, you can get anything from the look of a colour stain to a full gloss. It all depends what you prefer, and how much you slather on. The texture is unlike anything I’ve tried before, thin, but long lasting and not watery. Not sticky like a lip gloss, nor thick and creamy like a lipstick. It seems to be quite long lasting too, and very comfortable to wear on the lips.
 

Pros:

  • High pigmentation
  • Long Lasting
  • None sticky like gloss
  • Price is affordable
  • Wonderful range of colours
  • Easy to get your hand on them
  • Great applicator (Doe foot)

 

Cons:

  • With darker colours it can be quite hard to remove.


My favourite shades would have to be Celestial, Solstice and Apocaliptic. I'm a huge fan of the pinks and the 'my lips but better' shades. I definitely recommend this product and I'm so happy I had the opportunity to try them out. It is such a reliable product that I can reach for everyday and achieve beautiful lips in a few seconds.
Overall I'm very impressed with the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers. I encourage you to give them a try if you haven't already. They are probably one of my favourite lip products I've tried in a long time.

Bourjois Paris Blush Review - #33 Lilas D'or

Hey girls


Today's review will be on the Bourjois Paris Blush in shade #33 - Lilas D'or. Known as a supposed dupe for the Nars 'Orgasm' blush, at a more affordable price tag... ooh how exciting!
I haven't purchased any Bourjois blushes previously, though I'm sure this purchase will no doubt spark a new obsession. This colour, as mentioned before is 33 Lilas D'Or, is a lilac/pink rose with a stunning gold shimmer, which is perfect for winter and summer looks.

Today I popped into my local Target store, casually looking for some beauty essentials. When BAM! I came across the new Chi Chi Glamorous 'Nudes' palette.

Recently, I've heard about this palette from other beauty bloggers. It has been described as the more affordable version of the Urban Decay 'Naked' palette. 
As far as dupes go for the praised Naked Palette, this little beauty is definitely at the top.

Below is a picture showing the comparison between the Chi Chi palette & the Urban Decay palette.

The shadows in each palette are very much alike, although there are varying differences between the two palettes. The Nudes palette ($19.95) is a great alternative to the well known Naked palette ($54.99) when you consider the eyeshadow colour similarities and price of each palette. 



The 'Nudes' palette comes housed in a sturdy plastic clip closure container, with a black base, and a clear top lid with the name of the palette 'Nudes' in silver print over the top. Housed inside are the 12 pans of shadows and 2 double ended sponge tip applicators.

On the back of the boxes the palette came packaged in Chi Chi describes the shadows as being "...velvety soft, highly pigmented, and easily blendable." I can honestly tell you that the brands description of their product is 100% accurate.

The eyeshadows texture is a beautiful velvet like feel, the pigments are fantastic and also very blendable.  So far, I am very pleased with these beautiful eyeshadows.

All-in-all, the Chi Chi Glamorous 'Nudes' palette is a fantastic and afforable option for those who are just beginning to experiment with eyeshadow. As well as for beauties who love neutral smoky or simple eye looks and all the rest of us makeup junkies alike.
